Together with neighbouring Senftenberger See, Geierswalder See is the touristically most developed lake in the Lusatian Lake District. A modern infrastructure is being developed on the southern shore of the flooded former opencast mine.
Immediately next to the fine sands of the bathing beach on the eastern shore lies the pier, which can be accessed by passenger boats. There are currently no passenger boats on Geierswalder See.
Water sports play an important role in Geierswalde. The hub are the water sports centre and the boating rest area on the western shore below the lighthouse, a striking hotel and catering complex. The centre is the starting and finishing point for various national and international regattas.
Immediately next to it, the ‘Grill & Chill’ team offer culinary excursions across the lake as well as relaxation on the lakeside terrace and café.
In the village, the pubs ‘Zur Grubenlampe’ and ‘Ulf’s Scheune’ warmly welcome visitors with their individuality and special culinary treats.
Water sports, stand-up paddling, the surfing and water ski school as well as exploring the lake on a rented boat are as popular amongst visitors as are skating and cycling around the lake.
The hotel ‘Zum LeuchtTurm’, the floating houses and a large number of holiday homes provide ample accommodation for a longer stay in Geierswalde.
Many sights await exploration either via the lake or on land.
You can look forward to art projects, landmarks, individuality and the creation of further tourist attractions.
