Lake Bluno

Lake Bluno is cur­rently being flooded and lies partly within a restric­tion zone. The lake will replace the decom­mis­sioned Nord­schlauch pit of the Spree­tal lig­nite mine. Lake Bluno is still in the process of being flooded. Plans for the lake include canal links to nearby Lake Partwitz, Lake Neuwiese and Lake Sabrodt.

The north­ern shore of the lake offers ideal con­di­tions for fur­ther tourism devel­op­ment, because the ground and veg­e­ta­tion here have remained largely untouched and because the area ben­e­fits from good trans­port links. The lake is cur­rently under­go­ing land­scape plan­ning as a pri­or­ity area for recre­ational use. The south­ern shore will be reserved for nature con­ser­va­tion. The over­all inten­tion is to main­tain the rel­a­tively quiet char­ac­ter of the lake and reflect this in its use for tourism.

Cyclists can use a sur­faced lake­side path along the north­ern shore to explore the lake.

Lake Bluno can­not be used for tourism pur­poses at pre­sent because access to large parts of the area has been restricted.
